Obituary of Mary T Sullivan
Mary T. Sullivan, 88, of South Boston, died peacefully on Sunday morning at The Atrium in Danvers following a brief illness.
Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Gaffney) Sullivan. She was a lifelong resident of South Boston and a graduate of Gate of Heaven High School, class of 1948. She later continued her education at the Bryant & Stratton Business School in Boston.
Mary was employed for more than 40 years as a bookkeeper for the Sears & Roebuck Company in Boston before she retired. She enjoyed spending time at Castle Island and walking along the beach. She also enjoyed the Arts and traveled frequently to Rockport to visit the local galleries and to shop.
Mary is survived by her two nieces and two nephews, Mary Balestraci of Peabody, Cathy Andre of Hamilton, Michael Caulfield of Georgetown, and John Patrick Sullivan of NH, her sister-in-law, Elaine Sullivan of South Boston, and by her great niece and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, John Sullivan and Claire Caulfield and her niece, Colleen Caulfield.
Mary’s family is grateful for the dedicated staff of The Atrium in Danvers for their compassion and professional support during the last six years of Mary’s life.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 AM at Gate of Heaven Church, 615 East Fourth St., Boston and burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, LaGrange Ave, West Roxbury, MA to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Expressions of sympathy can be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
