Obituary of Belmira Adelaide Picanco
Blemira A. (Cordozo) Picanco, 89, of Salem died
Saturday at the Grosvenor Park Nursing Home, Salem after a long illness.
She was the wife of the late Antonio Picanco.
She was born and raised
In Faial, Azores Islands, Portugal on July 25, 1913, the daughter of the late
Manuel and Virginia (de Sousa) Cardozo and worked with her family on
Their family farm until moving to Peabody, Ma. in 1959.
She resided in
Peabody for 40 years moving to Salem 5 years ago.
She loved cooking and
growing vegetables in her garden.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in
Law, Manuel and Susan Pincanso of Peabody and Antonio and Lucia Picanso
of Rowley, 4 daughters and three sons-in-law, Maria and Joe George of Salem,
Olivia and Manuel Machado of New Smyrna Beach, Fl., Alice Amaral of Peabody
And Dina and Herb Wood of West Va., a brother,Guilherme Cardozo of Toronto,
Canada, 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held on
Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody facility followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Fatima
Church, Peabody at 9:00 a.m. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours
On Tuesday from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Alzheimer’ s Association, 37 Cameron Ave.
