Obituary of Sister Marie Helen Farren

Sister Marie Helen Farren (Sr Rose Marie), died peacefully on the eve of her 100th birthday on Tuesday June 23 at the Julie Billiart Retirement Center in Ipswich. Sister Marie was born in South Boston, daughter of the Charles and Ellen (Canney) Farren. Sister was predeceased by her siblings Leo, James, and Joseph Farren. Sister is survived by her sister Mary H Shaughnessy of Florida, many nieces and nephews, and also survived by her many sisters in Notre Dame.Sr. Marie earned her BA from Emmanuel College, her Teachers Certificate from Mass State College and her Masters of Arts from Anna Marie College. Sister’s ministries were in Lawrence, CT, RI, East Boston, Worcester, Boston, Emmanuel College, Leominster, Somerville, Cambridge, Charlestown, and Ipswich. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday June 27 at 3:00 PM at Our Lady Queen Chapel, 30 Jeffreys Neck Rd, Ipswich. The Wake will begin at 1:00 PM and the Memorial Service at 2:00 PM to which all are invited. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sisters of Notre Dame Retirement Fund at 30 Jeffreys Neck Rd., Ipswich, MA 01938. Burial will be Notre Dame Cemetery, Ipswich.
