Obituary of Alice Elizabeth (Sousa) Madruga

Alice Elizabeth (Sousa) Madruga, 89, of Peabody, died Friday evening at the Life Care Center in Plymouth following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Bartholomew J. “Buddy” Madruga Sr. Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Clarinda (Silva) Sousa. She was a lifelong resident of Peabody and attended Peabody public schools. Alice was employed with the Peabody Council on Aging for over 15 years as a cafeteria worker and as a monitor before retiring many years ago. She was a member of the Golden Agers and was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church. Alice is survived by her son Bartholomew J. “Bart” Madruga Jr. and his wife Sharon of Plymouth, her daughter, Claudia Jean and her husband Carl Edward Lund of Springhill, FL, her brother, Charles Sousa Jr. of Peabody, and is also survived by her four grandchildren Carlene and Cristopher Lund, Jaime Houde and Jillian Martin, and by nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister Franciline Sylvester. Her Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 11:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. Peabody. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:30 AM until 11:30 AM. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Lake St., Peabody.
