Obituary of Sr Mary C Connelly, SND

Sister Mary C Connelly 93, died peacefully on Sunday June 28 at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington following a brief illness. Sister Mary was born in Medford on August 5, 1921 and was the daughter of the late Matthew and Mary Elizabeth (Killion) Connelly. Sister’s date of Entrance into the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur was on February 5, 1940 in Waltham. Her date of First Vows was on July 30, 1942 and her Final Vows was on July 30, 1948. Sister taught at St. James School in Salem for nine years, 1942 until 1951, and from 1951 until her retirement in 2001, she taught English throughout Japan and then retired to Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur in Ipswich where she has lived for the past 14 years. Sister was predeceased by her siblings Leo, William, Laurence, and Charles Connelly. Sister is survived by many nieces and nephews and also by her many sisters in Notre Dame. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday July 1 at 3:00 PM at Our Lady Queen Chapel, 30 Jeffreys Neck Road, Ipswich. The Wake will begin at 1:00 PM and the Memorial Service at 2:00 PM to which all are invited. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sisters of Notre Dame Retirement Fund at 30 Jeffreys Neck Rd., Ipswich, MA 01938. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Ipswich.
