Obituary of Vera A. (Krochmal) Jacques

Vera A. (Krochmal) Jacques, 79 years, of Peabody wife of the late Robert E. Jacques, Sr., died Monday evening at her home after a brief illness. Mrs. Jacques was born May 7, 1924 in Peabody daughter of the late Harry and Natalie (Hlucen) Krochmal. She was raised in Peabody and graduated from Peabody High School class of 1941. She also attended the Danvers State School of Nursing for 2 years., Following her nursing schooling Mrs. Jacques was employed for 15 years as a licensed practical nurse at the former Danvers State Hospital and then at the former Peabody Nursing Home for 7 years. From 1974 she was employed with the City of Peabody at the school cafeteria and delivered the box lunches for the school lunch program for many years prior to her retirement in 1987. She was a member of the Nurses Alumnae in Danvers and St. John the Baptist Ladies Sodality. Mrs. Jacques is survived by 2 sons and their wives, Chief Master Sgt. Robert E. Jacques, Jr., U. S. Air Force, Ret. and Laura Jacques of Litchfield, NH and Major William H. Jacques, Massachusetts National Guard and Elizabeth Jacques of Peabody; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Pamela and Edward Papamechail of Danvers and Marjorie Reed of Saugus; a niece Mary Ann Stone of Peabody; 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and several other nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late John, Andrew and Alexander Krochmal, Lydia Honey Dudzisz, Mary Liimatainen, Anne Carter and Helen Sartan. Her funeral will be held Friday at 8 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St., Peabody location (978-531-0472) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Thursday 4 - 8 p.m. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
