Obituary of Denise M. (Rendell) Shambos

Denise M. (Rendell) Shambos 61, of Peabody, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington. Denise was born in Winthrop on March 27, 1954 daughter of the late William and Winifred (Dunn) Rendell. She was raised in Saugus, graduated in 1972 from Saugus High School, and moved to Peabody in 1982. Denise operated a home day care out of her home through her children’s younger years (80’s - 90’s) where she touch many lives. In the late 90’s she began working for the Peabody Public School System as a paraprofessional at the Higgins Middle School helping children with behavioral issues. She took much pride in knowing she may be able to help a child, even if only for a day. She also worked part time at Best Buy in Danvers. Denise spent all other free time making a lifetime of beautiful memories for her 7 year old granddaughter Arety. Together they shared a love of reading, puzzles and movies among many other things. Denise’s memories will last a lifetime in the hearts of loved ones, and she was also considered a second mom to many of her children’s friends. Denise is survived by her loving children, Sandra (Shambos) Mahoney and her husband Robert Mahoney, Christopher Shambos and his girlfriend Jenna Rizzo, her cherished granddaughter, Arety Shambos Dineen all of Peabody; her siblings, Bill Rendell and Tracey Rendell DeMatteo; her former husband, Larry Shambos of Peabody; a sister-in-law and her husband, Laura and Steve Ring of NH, and many nieces and nephews. Denise’s family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. As per her request there will be no services. In lieu of flowers the family requested that donations be made in Denise’s name to the Peabody Education Foundation, www.peabodyedfoundation.org .
