Obituary of Louise Marie Sullivan

Louise M. Sullivan, 88, formerly of Peabody, MA passed away on June 3, 1915. She was the Daughter of the late J. Leo Sullivan, the former Mayor and Postmaster of Peabody and Elizabeth (Mc Glone) Sullivan. Louise graduated from Peabody High School and Simmons College, Boston with a degree in Journalism. She worked as an editor of corporate publications, and as an executive editor with Allyn and Bacon Company, textbook publishers. Louise also worked as an editor for the Essex Institute, and as an award-winning free-lance editor of history books. Louise was an accomplished artist in several media, an avid international traveler, a devoted pet owner, and she had a unique talent for maintaining life-long friendships. For more than four decades Louise gave generously of her time and talents in service to others both locally and regionally through AA, and found many loyal friends there. Louise is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Philip and Joan Sullivan of Madison, Wisconsin, her nieces, Denise Sullivan and her spouse Bernard Schmelzer, Christine Sullivan and Angela Lucas, her nephews and their spouses, Brian Sullivan and Kristina Mecelicaite Sullivan and Brenda and Melissa Sullivan, six grand nieces and grand nephews and her longtime friends, Norrine Cendron and Ann Knight and Marc Cendron and Jennifer Day. There will be a family gathering at a later date in Madison, Wisconsin to celebrate Louise’s life. The family is especially grateful to Fidelis Hospice of Haverhill, MA for the gentle loving care given to Louise. A Local Service will be held at the family lot at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Route 114, Peabody/Salem line on Friday, August 21, 2015 at 2:00 PM.
