Obituary of Noreen (Sousa) Selinger

Noreen (Sousa) Selinger 88, of Peabody, wife of the late John W. Selinger, died at her home on Sunday, July 19, 2015. Mrs. Selinger was born in Fall River on February 28, 1927 daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Herron) Sousa. She was raised in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School in 1946, and in 1961 she and her family moved to Peabody. Noreen was employed for several years as a nursing assistant in pediatrics at Union Hospital in Lynn. She also held positions at the former Danvers State Hospital and the Deerskin trading Post in Peabody. Noreen was a loving mother who dedicated her life to creating a home for her family, and was so proud of her 14 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. As hobbies, she enjoyed playing cards especially cribbage and poker, and doing puzzles. Noreen is survived by 5 sons and their spouses, John W. Selinger of Center Sandwich, NH, Joseph E. and Linda Selinger, Kevin F. and Debra Selinger, Christopher P. Selinger and his companion Michelle Liberge, and Robert D. and Lisa Selinger all of Peabody; 14 grandchildren, Peter, Karen, Christine, Joseph Jr., Scott, James, Jordan, John, Matthew, Luke, Jennifer, Daryl, Todd and Danielle, 2 great granddaughters, Brittney and Lillian and 2 great great grandson, Dante James and Michael; 2 sisters, Rita Donovan of Sandwich and Virginia Healey of NC; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings James, Joseph, John, Arthur, Kenneth, Joan, Doris, Kathleen and Elizabeth. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, July 23, 2015 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Her funeral will be held on Friday, July 24th at 9 a.m. from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Adelaide Church, 708 Lowell St., Peabody.
