Obituary of Barbara A. Stepenuck

Barbara A. Stepenuck 77, of Peabody, died unexpectedly at her home on Thursday, July 30, 2015. Barbara was born Peabody on June 30, 1938 daughter of the late John and Helen (Roicka) Stepenuck. She was raised in Peabody, graduated from Peabody High School in 1955 and was a lifelong resident. Barbara was employed 43 years as bookkeeper / secretary for many firms including Calas Painting, Polyvinyl Chemical and Precise Fabrication Corporation in Georgetown retiring in 1998. She then volunteered with her comical partner Jean Very. Together they worked at St. John the Baptist Church, the Election Day Polls and the surgical Day Care unit in Hunt Hospital and Beverly Hospital in Danvers. She held membership in the Peabody Council on Aging, St. John’s Ladies Sodality and AARP. As hobbies, Barbara enjoyed beano, watching TV shows, movie videos, reading novels, biographies, crossword puzzles, music from 1930 to 1970, and was a fan club of country music and the Lawrence Welk Show. She was also a sports fan following the Red Sox, Patriots and Notre Dame Football. Barbara is survived by her siblings and their spouses, John and Eleanor Stepenuck of Peabody, Joan Harmon of Raleigh, NC, Kathryn and Kelly Luckey of Roundup, MT, and Dianne and Armand Beardsley of Virginia Beach, VA; many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, rand nephews and friends. She was predeceased by a 3 month old grand nephew Mathias Beardsley, grandparents, aunts, uncles and her dear friend Jean Very. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, August 3, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed with her service at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home. A family urn committal will be held at a later time at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. The family requested that donations be made in Barbara’s name to a charity of one’s choice.
