Obituary of Anna (Sullivan) Leahy

Anna (Sullivan) Leahy, 87, of Peabody, passed away August 1st, at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Thomas Leahy. Born in Newton, MA on July 2, 1928, she was the daughter of the late John and Anne (O’Brien) Sullivan. She was raised in Weston, then moved back to Newton and graduated from Newton High School Class of 1945. She worked as a bookkeeper for a few years, then continued on as a secretary until giving up her career to care for her family. She devoted herself to her family caring for her children and grandchildren. Anna was also a devout catholic, a member of St. John the Baptist Church in Peabody, where she volunteered at Bingo for many years. She also enjoyed traveling to many different place, including Europe and Hawaii, and was an avid Red Sox fan. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her sons, Kevin Leahy of Peabody, Thomas Leahy Jr & his wife Kathy of Maine, Brian Leahy & his wife Kristina of New Hampshire, and Shawn Leahy of Peabody; her grandchildren, Katie Leahy, Christiana Leahy, Sara Leahy, Emma Leahy, Richard Firey II, Shawn Firey; a great-grandchild, Evan Janveran; a sister; Polly Bryson; a sister-in-law; Mary Cardillo, and a goddaughter, Jackie Bastien. She was preceded in death by her sisters Peggy Collins and Mamie Quartermain. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at 9 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Wednesday, August 5, 2015 from 3 to 7 p.m
