Obituary of Dorothea M. Kingsley

Dorothea M. (Butler) Kingsley, 88, of Northend St., Peabody, died Friday afternoon at her home following a brief illness. She was the loving wife of the late Henry J. Kingsley. Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Joseph & Clara (Sylvester) Butler. She had attended Salem Public Schools and was a graduate of Salem High School and later went on to graduate from Keene State Teachers College in Keene New Hampshire, class of 1934. She had taught for 15 years in Salem at the Saltanstall School prior to her marriage. She went to teach at the Brown School in South Peabody for 20 years, prior to her retirement in 1983. She also was a member of the Massachusetts Teachers association. She is survived by 2 sons, The Reverend Richard M. Kingsley, Pastor of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Tucson, Arizona, and David Kingsley of Peabody; a daughter and a son-in-law, Maureen & John Collins of Lynn; 2 grandchildren, Christopher and Bryan Collins, both of Lynn; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Paul, Joseph Butler, and Rev. Richard Butler and the late Claire McHugh. Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Peabody Facility (978) 531-0472 followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Peabody at 10:00 AM to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Monday from 5-8 PM. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem.
