Obituary of Monica A. "Stella" (Kaminski) McDonald

Monica S. Stella (Kaminski) McDonald, 94 years, wife of the late Thomas H. McDonald died Thursday morning in the Peabody Glen Nursing Home after an extended illness. Mrs. McDonald was born August 18, 1909 in Salem, MA daughter of the late John and Maryann (Helinski) Kaminski. She was raised and educated in Salem graduating from Salem High School class of 1926. Mrs. McDonald was employed as an inspector at Sylvania on Loring Ave. in Salem for 42 years retiring in 1971. She moved from Salem to Peabody in 1980. She was a member of the Sylvania Quarter Century Club and was an active member of the Peabody Council on Aging and the Peter Torigian Community Life Center. She enjoyed line dancing and beano. She is survived by a daughter and her husband, Dorothy M. and Francis J. Bates of Peabody; three grandchildren and their spouses, Francis J. and Laura Bates, Jr. of Topsfield, Thomas M. and Kimberly Bates of Marblehead and JoAnne and John Skerritt of Beverly; eight great grandchildren, Colin, Riley and Christian Bates, Colby, Andrew and Tyler Bates, Ryan and Timothy Skerritt and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Bernard Kaminski and Helen Kennealy. Her funeral will be held Monday at 10 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St. Peabody location followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Sunday 5 to 8 p.m. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem.
