Obituary of Isabelle E. (Lawrence) Stocker

Isabelle E. (Lawrence) Stocker 87, loving wife of Theodore Roosevelt Stocker, died on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 with her family by her side at The Tidd Home in Woburn. Mrs. Stocker was born in Fitchburg on August 6, 1928 daughter of Harry and Margaret (Amos) Lawrence. Isabelle remained close with her family from Canada, who were descendants of British born Charles Lawrence, military officer and governor of Nova Scotia from 1756 to 1760. She was raised in Peabody, graduating from Peabody High School in 1947. In 1976, Isabelle and her husband moved to Alton Bay in New Hampshire and from 1977 wintered in Bonita Springs, Florida. While residing in Florida, as a travel agent for 20 years, she and her husband operated Belle’s Tours; planning and attending bus trips and cruises throughout the world. In addition to traveling, she enjoyed playing the organ, painting, gardening, swimming at the lake, and “keeping Teddy happy”. In addition to her husband, Teddy, with whom she shared 68 years of marriage, she is survived by her children, Joanne Gallo and her husband Sam of Gloucester, Margaret Dale Stocker of NY, NY, Richard W. Stocker of Peabody, and Brenda Louise Stocker of Olympia, WA; her grandchildren and their spouses, Sam Jr. and Julie Gallo, Traci and Brad Perkins, Heather and Richard Michaud, Marlie Stocker and her fiancé Josh Tebbs, Mariel Stocker and her fiancé Larry Thibault Jr., and Adam Stocker and his fiancé Doris Layon; and her great-grandchilden, Emily and Elizabeth Perkins, Caitlin and Meagan Gallo, and Camille Bexell as well as her cousins, Aubrey and Beth Lawrence of Fitchburg, Don and Jan Doncaster of Gardner and Margaret Melanson of Danvers. In 2012, she was predeceased by her daughter-in-law Myde C. Stocker. Isabelle was also predeceased by her brothers, Roland H. and Lloyd Lawrence. Her family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, August 17, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the West Congregational Church, 27 Johnson Street, West Peabody with the Reverend Ralph Wetherington officiating at her celebration of life service at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Compassionate Care Hospice, www.cchnet.net/northeast/massachusetts/woburn , 800 Cummings Park, Suite 3100, Woburn, MA 01801.
