Obituary of Anthe (Keriakedes) Fillos

Anthe (Keriakedes) Fillos SALEM – Anthe (Keriakedes) Fillos, 97, beloved wife of the late John Fillos, died peacefully at her home on Monday August 17, 2015, while in the comforting presence of her loving family. Born in Sioux City, IA, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Sophia (Levas) Keriakedes. She grew up there, and attended Northwestern University in Chicago before enlisting in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After being stationed in Washington, DC where she met her husband John, they married and moved to Peabody, living on the North Shore for nearly 70 years. Anthe was a lifelong active member at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody where she was very active. A gifted writer, she wrote several poems and short stories. She was most passionate about nurturing her family, and was very devoted to them and their well being. She will be dearly missed, as she was loved by all she touched. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Stevan Fillos & Barbara Ward of Peabody, Deborah & Peter Pantazelos of Danvers, and Pamela & Theodore Soteropoulos of Salem; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Dimitri Fillos & Tony Baca, Alexis Fillos & Josh Ibbs, Thanasi & Simi Pantazelos, Yianno & Donna Pantazelos, Ismini Soteropoulos & her fiancée John Voyiatzis, and Dimitri Soteropoulos & his fiancé Danielle Rose; two great-grandchildren, Charlotte and Ana Eve Fillos-Ibbs; and she leaves behind three loving sisters Olga Andrews and Nan Cusulos both of San Francisco, CA, , and Becky Gidas of Pittsburgh, PA, and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Poleteme Keriakedes, Maria Economos, and Stella Props. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Friday August 21, 2015 at 9 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Service at 10 AM in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 5 – 8 P.M. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
