Obituary of Sister Loretta R. Sexton S.N.D.

Sr. Loretta T. Sexton S.N.D. ( Helen R Sexton) , 96, died peacefully at the Notre Dame Long Term Care Center in Worcester on Saturday, August 29, 2015. She was born in Cambridge, MA on October 30, 1919, the daughter of the late James and Julia (Healey) Sexton and entered the Notre Dame Order in Waltham on August 8, 1938. She received her first vows on January 30, 1941 and her final vows on June 30, 1946. Sr. Helen was a graduate of Emmanuel College and later received her Masters degree in Education from Boston University. Her ministries included East Boston, Chicopee, Springfield, Worcester, Hudson, Boston, Cambridge, Lynn, North Dartmouth, and Lawrence and for the past 20 years was the assistant province secretary at Ipswich, MA. She is survived by her nephew and nieces, Robert Erickson of Westford, Regina Erickson of Acton, Ruth E. Materna of Chelmsford, Richard Erickson of Norwood, Brian Foy of Situate, Elaine Foy of Miami, Florida and Kay Fantini of Bedford and her many sisters of the Notre Dame de Namur order. She was the sister of the late Ann Riley, Loretta Larkin, Julia Foy, Rita Erickson and James Sexton. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at 3:00 PM at Our Lady Queen Chapel, 30 Jeffreys Neck Road, Ipswich, A Visitation will be from 1:00PM until 3:00PM there and also a Memorial Service at 2:00 PM to which all are invited to attend. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Ipswich. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur Retirement Fund, 30 Jeffreys Neck Rd., Ipswich, MA 01938.
