Obituary of George Owen Benson
George Owen “Benny” Benson, 75, of Peabody and formerly of Lynn, died unexpectedly on Saturday at his home.
Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late John and Eileen (Morris) Benson. He was raised and educated in Lynn, later lived in Salem and has spent the last 15 years living in Peabody.
George was employed by the Teamsters for many years as a truck driver and after his retirement from the Teamsters, he drove for Northeast Nursery in Peabody.
George enjoyed traveling with his long time girlfriend, Suzanne Dow of Lynn to Aruba, Florida and Maine. He also enjoyed going to the movies, reading, and was a great story teller.
Besides his long time girlfriend Suzanne, he is survived by his three sons, Daniel Benson and his wife Jamie, Brian Benson and his wife Shannon, all of Peabody, Troy Benson, his two step-sons, Rick Lariviere of Salem and David Lariviere of Bradford, his three brothers, Barry and Dennis Benson both of Lynn and John Benson of Peabody, he is also survived by his five loving grandchildren, Chelsie, Trevor, and Jacqueline Benson, Kaleb Sciascia and Brayden Owen Benson, and a great grandson, Jayden. He was predeceased by his daughter Leeann Benson.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial Services will be private.
