Obituary of Joan (Hendrickson) Spaneas
Joan (Hendrickson) Spaneas, 72, of Peabody, died Wednesday, September 9th at the Spaulding Hospital in Cambridge after an extended illness. She was the wife of the late Paul Spaneas.
She was born in Hibbing, Minnesota on August 7, 1943 the daughter of the late Henry and Selma (Maki) Hendrickson and was raised and educated there before moving to the Massachusetts . She had resided in Peabody and Danvers prior to her illness.
Joan had been a certified Nurses Aide for 30 years at various nursing homes on the North Shore prior to her retirement from the Harborside Health Care in Danvers 12 years ago.
She enjoyed traveling back to Minnesota to see members of her family and shared most of her time being with her family.
She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Georgianna and Frank Sperlinga of Peabody and Tanya Spaneas of Beverly, her sisters and brother-in-law, Judy Pelletier of Chisholm, MN and Jeri and Ray Pahule of Little Bear Lake, MN and many nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 15 from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. There will be a Family scattering of ashes at sea on Wednesday, September 16, 2015. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Lung Association, 460 Totten Pond Road, Suite 400, Waltham, MA 02451.
