Obituary of Francis J. "Frank" Jenkins

Francis J. Frank Jenkins 87 years of Peabody died on Monday February 20, 2006 in Peabody after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Selma C. (Goodwin) Jenkins with whom he shared 54 years of marriage. Mr. Jenkins was born December 5, 1918 in Lynn son of the late Frank and Marie (Salois) Jenkins. He was also the stepson of the late Marie (Pellerin) Jenkins. He graduated from St. Anne’ s University in Church Point, Nova Scotia in 1939 receiving a B.A. Degree in Chemistry. Mr. Jenkins served in the Army Air Corps during WW II attaining the rank of Captain. He served in the Asiatic - Pacific Theaters of Operations and was awarded the Good Conduct and Victory Medals. He then served in the Air Force Reserve retiring with the rank of Lt. Colonel. Mr. Jenkins was employed for 20 years as a systems analyst at Raytheon in Andover. He was previously employed for many years at General Electric. He resided in Peabody for more than 50 years. After retiring, he and his wife wintered in Florida for several years. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Parish in Peabody where he served as an usher for several years. Francis enjoyed golfing, gardening, and traveling. Mr. Jenkins leaves 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanne and Mark Ouellette of Peabody, Joan and Edward Burns of Miami, FL; 6 grandchildren and their spouses, Michael and Laura Ouellette, Jay and Jacquelyn Ouellette, David Ouellette, Kelli and Kirk Neufeld, Thomas Burns, Edward Burns Jr. and his fiancée Amy Fagan; 2 brothers and a sister-in-law, Dr. Lester Jenkins, George and Betty Jenkins all of Lynn; 2 sisters, Rita Doucette of CT and Eleanor Wyckoff of Lynn, a sister-in-law, Jean Raucci of Peabody; 7 great grandsons and several nieces and nephews. He was pre deceased by 2 brothers, Richard and Roland Jenkins. His funeral will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St. location Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Wednesday 4 to 8 p.m. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers MA 01923.
