Obituary of Alice L. (Black) Abbott

Alice L. (Black) Abbott, 90, of Peabody and formerly of Broad Top City, PA, died peacefully on Monday, September 14, 2015 at her residence with her family at her side. She was the wife of the late Robert Abbott . She was born in Broad Top City, PA on January 17, 1925, the daughter of the late Herman and Thelma (Woomer) Black. Following the death of her father Herman when she was five, she was raised by Thelma and her second husband Jess Mc Cavitt and had resided in Broad Top City for most of her life before moving to reside with her daughter Suzanne Phillips in Peabody for the past five years. She had been a Hair Stylist operating out of her home for several years and was a faithful member of the Six Mile Run Church of God. Alice recently celebrated her 90th birthday with her friends and family at the Wardhurst Restaurant in Peabody. She is survived by her daughter Suzanne Phillips of Peabody, her cherished grandchildren Brian Phillips and Heather Phillips both of Peabody, a brother and sister-in-law Gary and Billee McCavitt and their daughter Brittany of Wood, PA, a sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Paul Pawuk of Six Mile Run, Pa, and many nieces and nephews including Darcy and her husband Dave Bussard and family, Todd Pawuk and family and Kevin Pawuk and family and many friends. She was the mother-in-law of the late William Phillips and the Grandmother of the late Brett Phillips who died last year. A Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at the Curtis-Heath Funeral Home, Railroad Ave., Broad Top City, PA. From 6:00 until 08:00 PM followed by a celebration of life service there on Monday at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Broad Top City Cemetery, PA. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Six Mile Run Church of God, 1281 Main St., Six Mile Run, and PA 16679 in her memory. A Memorial Service will be held in Peabody Ma at a later date.
