Obituary of Paul D Goodwin

Paul D Goodwin, 84, died peacefully on Sunday afternoon at the Pilgrim Nursing Home in Peabody following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Sarah E. (McQuillan) Goodwin with whom he shared over 63 years of marriage. Born in Gloucester, he was the son of the late Dexter and Florence (Ross) Goodwin. He was raised and educated in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School, class of 1949. He has lived in Peabody for over 50 years. Paul served with the United States Army for two years during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1954. Paul was employed with H.P. Hood in Charlestown for over 20 years as a foreman prior to his retirement. He had previously worked for P.C. Hicks Caterer, Warren Five Cents Savings Bank and the Peabody School Department. Paul enjoyed traveling, garden work and My Brothers Table. He was an active member of St. Ann’s Church in Peabody, the Peabody Senior Center, and bowled for many years at Metro Bowl in Peabody. Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his son, James Goodwin and his significant other Carol St. Pierre of Georgetown, his two daughters, Kathleen and her husband Mario Furtado of Magnolia, and Joanne and her husband Eddie Dumas of Topsfield, his beloved grandchildren, Kimberly Leazott, Stephanie Lane Sussman, Alyssa Dumas and Joseph Dumas, and is also survived by two great grandchildren, Nathaniel Sussman and Lily Leazott and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by her siblings, William Goodwin, Helen Walfield, and Florence Flynn. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM at St. Ann’s Church, Lynn St., Peabody. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
