Obituary of Adeline F. (Tacelli) Luz

Adeline F. (Tacelli) Luz 103 years of Peabody, wife of the late Joseph F. Luz, died Monday evening at the Sunrise Assisted Living at Gardner Park in Peabody surrounded by her family. Mrs. Luz was born February 10, 1903 in East Boston daughter of the late Stephen and Mary (Lucius) Tacelli. She was raised and educated in East Boston graduating in 1920. Prior to her marriage she was employed as a lab technician at Mass Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Luz has been residing in Peabody for the past 79 years. As a self-taught musician, Mrs. Luz played many instruments and she was also a singer. For many years she sang on WESX Radio. She was quite active with the Portuguese American Civic League in Peabody and would put on mistral shows for them. She was a member and Past President of the Order Sons of Italy Women’ s League and a member of the Women’ s Republican Club in Peabody. The staff at Sunrise at Garner Park would always asked Mrs. Luz to play the piano which she enjoyed doing. Her entire family celebrated her 103rd birthday on February 10th. She is survived by 2 daughters, Eugenia Jeanne Murphy of Boca Raton FL, Jocelyn Keating of Peabody; a son and his wife, Herbert and Shirley Luz of Stratham NH; 8 granddaughters, Paula Keating of Haverhill, Pamela Childs, David I. Murphy Jr. both of FL, Patricia Cash of Middleton, Kandace Kukas of Peabody, Stephanie Abrams of Franklin, Mark Luz of NH and Kathleen Luz of Ipswich; 7 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Her siblings Marguerite Silva, Thelma DeMild, Frank, John and Harold Tacelli pre deceased her. Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St. location Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Salem - Peabody line. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Friday 4 - 8 P.M. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers MA 01923.
