Obituary of Anna M. "Ann" (Flaherty) Michalak
Anna M. Ann (Flaherty) Michalak 87 years, wife of Alexander J. Michalak of Lynnfield, died Wednesday evening at the Salem Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Michalak was born May 7, 1918 in Cambridge daughter of the late John and Grace (Dooley) Flaherty. She was raised in Medford and graduated from Medford High School class of 1936. Prior to moving to Lynnfield in 1956 she resided in Medford.
Before her marriage in 1941, Mrs. Michalak was employed as a secretary at the Medford Chamber of Commerce. She devoted her entire life to her family and after raising her sons she returned to work for a few years as a nurse’ s aide at the former Danforth Nursing Home in Lynnfield. She enjoyed painting, cooking, sewing, knitting and making braded rugs.
In addition to her husband with whom she shared 65 years of marriage she is survived by a grandson and his wife, Petty Officer John A. Michalak, U.S. Navy and his wife Jodi Michalak of Ledyard CT; 4 great grandchildren, Brandyn, John Jr., Bryan and Bryanna Michalak all of CT; a daughter-in-law, Marilyn E. (Miller) Michalak; 3 nieces, Anne Flaherty, Jennifer Hendrickson both of MD, Carolyn Anderson of Methuen, a cousin Barbara Schlichter of Lynnfield and several other nieces and nephews. A son Ronald A. Michalak and grandson Timothy A. Michalak pre deceased her.
Her funeral will be held Monday at 9 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St. location Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Adelaide Church Peabody.Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Sunday 3 to 6 p.m. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
