Obituary of Robert J Bellemare
Robert Joseph Bellemare, of Topsfield, MA and formerly of Peabody, MA and Ludlow, VT, devoted husband of Norma D. Bellemare, died peacefully on September 28, 2015 at the Masconomet Nursing Home in Topsfield. He was 94.
Born in Bennington, VT on August 30, 1921, he was the son of the late Emile D. and Ella (Murray) Bellemare. He was a graduate of Bennington High School and the Bliss Business College in North Adams, MA. He was a 1949 Phi Beta Kappa cum laude graduate of the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. Bob worked at the General Electric Company plant in Schenectady, NY, before being drafted into the Army Air Force in 1942. He served in North Africa and Italy, where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for “exceptionally meritorious service”. He was discharged in 1945. After Dartmouth, he began a 40-year career with GE in Accounting and Finance, working in Lynn, MA, Ludlow and Rutland, VT, and Everett, MA. He served as Plant Accountant in Ludlow from 1953-57. He ended his career as the Manager of Accounting and Finance at the Small Aircraft Engine facility at the Lynn, MA River Works.
Bob married Ella Collings Doyle in 1955. Following Ella’s death in 1985, he married Norma Drummond Infantino in 1988. They lived their married life in Peabody and at Lake Rescue in Ludlow, VT, before moving to Topsfield in 2007.
Besides his wife Norma, he is survived by his brother James of Madison, CT and by Norma’s daughters, Karen and her husband Francis Burke of Reading, MA, and Janet and her husband Nickolas Kaskovich of Wheaton, IL. He was a loving grandfather to Norma’s grandchildren, Elizabeth, Carolyn, and Jennifer Burke and Robert and his wife Chelsea, Paul, and Valerie Kaskovich and her husband Pablo Croissier. He is also survived by two nieces and two nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Marie (Bellemare) Kresky and two brothers, Raymond and William, who died in childhood.
His funeral will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4:30 – 7:30 PM. Internment will be in Montague, Prince Edward Island, Canada at a later date.
