Obituary of George A. Bourgeois
George A. Bourgeois PEABODY – George A. Bourgeois, 92, beloved husband of Carmella (Gambale) Bourgeois, died peacefully on Wednesday September 30, 2015 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, following an extended illness. Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late William and Marie (Richards) Bourgeois. He grew up in Lynn, and graduated from Lynn Classical High School. He lived in Peabody for nearly 65 years. Mr. Bourgeois worked with G.E. Riverworks plant in Lynn as an engineering and organizational planner for 42 years. George was a member of St. Ann’s Church where he taught Religious Education as a CCD Teacher, and was a Lector. Because his brothers were in each of the Armed Forces divisions, he joined the National Guard and served for 17 years. He was a member of the Yankee Division of the North Shore. With his military training, he taught the Junior Division Gun Safety Class and managed the Range for the Danvers Fish & Game Club. To keep his mind sharp, he enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles. He had a deep understanding of history, and loved passing his knowledge to others. He took great pride taking his grandchildren on many adventures to learn about historical events. He is survived by his wife Carmella (Gambale) Bourgeois of Peabody, with whom he shared 71 years of marriage; three sons William Bourgeois of Frankfurt, Germany, Richard Bourgeois of Pittsburgh, CA, and Robert Bourgeois of Peabody; eight daughters, Eva Leonard of Auburn, CA, Antoinette Carolina of South Hamilton, Catherine Bourgeois of Danvers, Mary Fearon of Peabody, Barbara Crouss of Southwick, Judith Bourgeois – Melanson of Worcester, Denise Bourgeois of San Francisco, CA, and Maura Kearney of Torrence, CA; 12 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; a brother Francis Bourgeois of Salem, NH, and many nieces and nephews. He was brother of the late Eva, Albert, Arthur and Eugene Bourgeois. Following cremation, relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Monday October 5, 2015 at 9 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in St. Ann’s Church, Peabody. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 2 – 5 P.M. Urn burial in Swampscott Cemetery, Swampscott. Memorial donations may be made to either St. Ann’s Church, 140 Lynn St., Peabody, MA 01960 or to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St. Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
