Obituary of Nicholas M. Metta
Nicholas M. Metta PEABODY – Nicholas “Nick” M. Metta, 75, died peacefully at his home on Tuesday September 22, 2015 while in the comforting presence of his family, following an extended illness. Born in Brockton, he was the son of the late Michael and Ethel (Cerce) Metta. He grew up in Brockton and graduated from Brockton High School. Mr. Metta entered the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, and served in Spain. He worked as a Financial Professional as a Stock Broker before becoming an entrepreneur. He owned and operated Jiffy Maid, Inc. out of Peabody for over 40 years. Nick enjoyed a quiet life at home when not working, as family and friends were his passion. He enjoyed fishing, boating, cooking, and was an avid reader. Physically fit, he worked out regularly, practiced Tai Chi, and he earned a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Karate. He will be remembered as a teacher, philosopher, and spiritual man. He is survived by his daughter Judes Look-Why and his son by marriage Ashwyn Look-Why of Shrewsbury, his sons Nicholas Metta & his wife Jennifer of Beverly, Salvatore Metta of Peabody, and Matthew Metta of Nashville, TN; six grandchildren, Sydney, Sage, Taylor, Giana, Aiyana, and Evyn; two sisters, Judith McMahon of East Bridgewater, Mary Ann Manning & her husband John of Danville, NH; two brothers, Frank Metta of Brockton and Michael Metta, Jr. & his wife Diane of Brockton; and several nieces and nephews, and many friends including special friends who supported him in his final days, Argo and Dave, Joan and Kerry. Following cremation, relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Saturday October 10, 2015 from 9:15 – 10:15 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM in Ste. Anne’s Church, Salem. Urn burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Memorial donations may be made to www.standup2cancer.org
