Obituary of Thomas F Freeman

Thomas F. Freeman, 81, of Peabody, died unexpectedly on Tuesday September 29 at his home. Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary (Lundy) Freeman. He was a life long resident of Peabody and a graduate Peabody High School. He later continued his education at Merrimac College and later received his law degree from Suffolk University. Thomas was a veteran of the Korean War who served with the United States Air Force for four years before he was honorably discharged in 1957. Thomas was employed for over 25 years at Salem State College as comptroller before retiring in 1996. He also was an assistant coach for many years for the Bishop Fenwick Girls Softball team and also coached for a USAA Girl’s softball team as well. He was a member of the Italian American Club in Peabody. Thomas is survived by his siblings, John P. Freeman and Sally Freeman Butterfield of Dartmouth, MA, his nieces and nephews, Katherine O’Brien and her husband Stephen of Beverly Farms, Christyne LaPlaca and her husband Nicholas of Georgetown, Kevin Freeman and his wife Susan of Merrimac, MA, Robert Butterfield and his wife Julie of Brighton, NY, and Miranda Chapman and her husband Jacob of Bradford, RI. He was predeceased by his siblings, Martin J Freeman and Mary Freeman Sears. Following cremation, a visitation will be held on Friday from 9:00 until 10:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
