Evelyn M. (Tryder) Anderson
PEABODY Evelyn M. (Tryder) Anderson, 78, beloved wife of the late Martin L. Anderson, died unexpectedly at the Salem Hospital on Thursday evening following a brief illness.
Born in Somerville, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Gladys (Nichols) Tryder. She lived there a short time, then lived in Medford where she attended schools, then lived in Brighton and graduated from Brighton High School. She lived in Malden for a few years, and lived in Peabody for the last 55 years.
She worked as an Au Pere while a teenager, then at Woolworth’ s Store in Boston, and was a Switchboard Operator at Sears Roebuck in Boston before marrying and nurturing her family as a homemaker.
She was an avid sports fan, watching Red Sox games, and especially loved hockey games watching the Bruins. She enjoyed the Rat Pack singers and entertainers from the 60’ s and 70’ s, especially the crooners Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra. When she came to West Peabody, they moved into the home her husband built, she enjoyed stock car races and joined the Powder Puff Racers in West Peabody on the site that was once the Kennedy Junior High School and ball fields.
She is survived by: one son, Gary Anderson of Peabody; three daughters, Janice Mansfield of Peabody, Judy Tripoli of Danvers, and Gail Glenn of Easthampton, MA; 13 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Tryder.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 11 AM in the West Congregational Church, Johnson St., West Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
A visitation will be held on Monday from 5 to 8 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut ST. location, Peabody.
Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
