Obituary of Gloria M. (Mento) Mineo
Gloria M. (Mento) Mineo, 84, beloved wife of the late Santo P. Mineo, died peacefully on Tuesday October 6, 2015 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, while in the comforting presence of her family. Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Susan G. (Minigelli) Mento. She grew up in Salem, and graduated from Salem High School, where she excelled at athletics and made strides for local women’s sports. She met her loving husband after serving him a frappe at Puleo’s Dairy. After marrying, they raised their large and loving family in her home town of Salem. Mrs. Mineo worked in the Salem School Department for 18 years as a Teacher’s Aide and Photography Assistant. Those who were lucky enough to enjoy a meal in “Gloria’s Kitchen” know that she took great pride in sharing with others. Gloria opened her heart and her home to all those in her life, and in the lives of her large, extended family. Gloria was a brilliant cook and a dedicated friend. Many will miss her, but her bright light will live on. She is survived by six sons and daughters, Julie & David Venedam of Merrimack, NH, Frank & Marie Mineo of Osprey, FL, Susan Mineo of Peabody, David A. Mineo of Salem, Diane Mineo of Anderson, SC, and Anthony & Susan Mineo of Suwanee, GA; an especially close niece, Nelliann Shea of Salem; nine grandchildren, Sean & Desiree Venedam, Jason & Jenny (Yandell) Mineo-Goggin, Caron & Alex (Dick) Mineo, Paul D. Venedam, Julianne & Greg Diamond, Kalyn & Russell McGlone, Nicholas Mineo, Anthony Mineo, Jr., and Matthew P. Mineo; eight great-grandchildren, Xander and Malaki Venedam, Jack Mineo, Ellie Yandell, Leo and Archie Diamond, and Alexa and Timothy McGlone; a sister Jeannette LaRosa Church of Peabody, a brother Anthony & his wife Lena Mento of Salem, a sister-in-law Nancy Mento of Salem, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death, besides her husband and parents, by a brother Joseph Mento of Salem. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Saturday October 10, 2015 from 11 AM – 1 PM in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Service at 1 PM in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Memorial donations may be made to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
