Obituary of Sarah E Goodwin

Sarah E (McQuillan) Goodwin, 83, died peacefully Thursday morning at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of Paul D Goodwin who passed this past September 20th. She shared over 63 years of marriage with Paul. Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Kathleen (Wellington) McQuillan. She was raised and educated in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn English High School, class of 1950. She has lived in Peabody for over 50 years. Sarah was employed with the New England Telephone Company, the former Warren 5 Cents Savings Bank and was a clerk for the Peabody Municipal Electric Company before retiring many years ago. Sarah was very active in running her class reunions at Lynn English High School, and volunteered for many years at St. Ann’s Church in Peabody. She also enjoyed traveling, My Brothers Table and bowled for many years at Metro Bowl in Peabody. She is survived by her son, James Goodwin and his significant other Carol St. Pierre of Georgetown, her two daughters, Kathleen and her husband Mario Furtado of Magnolia, and Joanne and her husband Eddie Dumas of Topsfield, her three brothers, Bob McQuillan of Auburndale, Paul McQuillan of Melrose, and Bill McQuillan of Georgetown, her beloved grandchildren, Kimberly Leazott, Stephanie Lane Sussman, Alyssa Dumas, and Joseph Dumas, and is also survived by two great grandchildren, Nathaniel Sussman and Lily Leazott, and by many niece and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Edward, John, and Joseph McQuillan and by her granddaughter, Gina Lane. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 3:00 until 6:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00 AM at St. Ann’s Church, Peabody.
