Obituary of Joanne C Maguire

Joanne C (Lawrence) Maguire, 82, of Peabody, died Friday morning at her home following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife and high school sweetheart of Arthur M Maguire with whom she shared over 63 years of marriage. Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Catherine Lawrence. She was a life long resident of Peabody and a graduate of Peabody High School, class of 1951. Joanne was employed for 30 years a waitress at the former Commodore Restaurant in Beverly and upon its closing; she worked additional years at Henry’s in Beverly in the bakery before finally retiring. While in high school she was on the high school football cheering squad. She enjoyed fishing and loved all of Boston’s professional sports teams, especially the Patriots and Red Sox. Family was most important to her and she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and later her great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all. The family would like to thank the nurses of Care Dimensions for their care, compassion and professionalism they gave to the family. They are deeply grateful. Besides her loving husband, she is survived by her son, John Maguire of Salem, her two daughters, Patti Maguire and Kimberly Maguire, both of Peabody, her sister, Lorraine Quirk of Peabody, her five grandchildren, Matthew Maguire, Jessica Applin, Kate Civian, and Kevin and Mark Maguire and also by her five great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her two sons and daughter, Lawrence, Michael and Judith Maguire, and by her sister Brenda Champagne, and also by her two dogs, Niko and Buddy. Her Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
