Obituary of Robert R "Dutchy" Godschall

Robert R “Dutchy” Godschall, 84, of Peabody and formerly of Lynn, died early Saturday morning at his home surrounded by his family following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Virginia (Hutchinson) Godschall with whom he shared over 54 years of marriage. Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Milton and Lettie (Russell) Godschall. He was raised and educated in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn English High School, class of 1950. He continued his education at Northeastern University for two years before enlisting with the United States Army and served two years during the Korean War before his honorable discharge. Upon marrying his wife Virginia, he moved to Peabody where he has lived for the past 54 years. Dutchy was employed for over 45 years as an Manufacturing Engineer for General Electric in Lynn before retiring many years ago. He enjoyed fishing, skiing, and hunting and was everyday handymen who just about fix anything. However, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family and enjoying all of their endeavors Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his children, James and his wife Sandi Godschall of Hudson, NH, John and his wife Maro Godschall of Peabody and Pam and her husband Donny Turpel of Cohasset, his six grandchildren Sarah, Elizabeth, Nicole and Ryan Godschall, and Ian and Daniel Turpel. His Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn.
