Obituary of John F Bowman

John F. Bowman, Jr, 82, of Peabody, died unexpectedly on Saturday at his home. He was the devoted husband of the late Cathlene (Delaney) Bowman. Born in Medford, he was the son of the late John F. Bowman, Sr and Mary (Lynch) Bowman. He was raised and educated in Medford and was a graduate of Medford High School, class of 1950. He has been living in Peabody for the past 54 years. John was employed as a newspaper pressman for 17 years at the Herald Traveler and for 30 years at the Boston Globe before retiring in 1994. He was a member of the pressman union # 3. John was a real handyman who enjoyed woodworking and tinkering with radios, televisions, and building model size helicopters and flying them. He was a ham radio operator and a member of the North Shore amateur radio club. He was a loyal patron of Dailey’s / Hailey’s Pub in Middleton, but his favorite activity was spending time with his family and sharing in all of their endeavors. He will be dearly missed by all. John is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Deborah M. and Jake Gilloolly of Salem, his son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Maurine Bowman of Dracut, his daughter-in-law, Cyndi Bowman of Topsfield, his brother, Thomas Bowman of NH, his sister, Mary Develin of Stoneham and is also survived by his 5 beloved grandchildren, Laura, Sean, Hannah, Kevin, and Kyle Bowman and his 4 step grandchildren and 11 step great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son Mark S. Bowman. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Adelaide’s Church, Lowell St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Lake St., Peabody.
