Karl C. Wilkinson
PEABODY Karl C. Wilkinson, 46, beloved husband of Gail (Strange) Wilkinson of Peabody, died Sunday morning at the Boston University Medical Center Hospital following a long illness.
Born in Salem, he was the much-loved son of Constance B. (Brault) Wilkinson of Vero Beach, FL and the late Joseph L. Wilkinson. He lived in Salem in his youth. He attended Salem schools and graduated from Salem High School. He lived in Peabody for the last 25 years.
Karl was a Master Marine Mechanic and a steadfast employee for over 24 years with Yankee Engine & Marine and its successor Port Marine located on Liberty St. and Danversport area of Danvers. Due to Karl’ s craftsmanship, dedication and expertise, his skills were sought after by boat owners throughout New England.
He had an interest in jazz music and enjoyed playing saxophone in his early years. He always had a loyal dog by his side, had an interest in history, participated in martial arts, had an affection for wooden boats, and he was at home on the water. Karl was as honest a person as one would ever have the pleasure of knowing, he was a true friend to all that knew him.
Karl will be deeply missed by so many, and they will always love him, including: his wife Gail (Strange) Wilkinson of Peabody, with whom he shared nearly 8 years of marriage; he was a loving father to Justin, age 22, Andrew, age 17, and Tyler, age 16 of Peabody; his mother, Constance B. (Brault) Wilkinson of FL; he was the dear brother of David & Collette Wilkinson of Beverly, Anne & David Gavin of Long Island, NY, Kristin & Paul Guido of Salem, and Paul & Irm Wilkinson of Cambridge; he was a caring uncle to Aimee Husson of Beverly, Mark Amos of Peabody, Lorren Lane of Weymouth, and Bethany Amos of Salem, and also survived by 1 great niece and 2 great nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph L. Wilkinson
His funeral will be held on Friday at 8 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St. location, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 AM in St. John’ s Church, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited.
A visitation will be held on Thursday from 5 to 8 P.M.
Cremation will follow the Mass.
