Obituary of Karen T. (Stankiewicz) Osgood
Karen T. (Stankiewicz) Osgood PEABODY/DANVERS – Karen T. (Stankiewicz) Osgood, 70, beloved wife of Herbert W. Osgood, died peacefully from Scleroderma and Pulmonary Fibrosis on Sunday evening November 1, 2015 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, while in the comforting presence of her family. Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late John and Alice (Sodowski) Stankiewicz. She grew up in Salem and in Danvers, and lived in Peabody for many years before moving back to Danvers. Besides nurturing her family, Mrs. Osgood was a Crossing Guard in Beverly for several years, and most recently employed at B.J.’s in Danvers as a greeter, cashier, clerk, and stock person until her recent illness. Karen enjoyed knitting and made many scarves, as well as an avid shopper. She loved gambling and gaming adventures to Foxwoods, Twin River, and recently Plainridge Park Casino with their friends Dave and Judy Rushia of Norton, MA. She was a devoted and strong-willed woman, with a strong passion for family—especially her grandchildren. Her family is grateful for the care given by the medical staff at Lahey and Care Dimensions. She is survived by her husband Herbert W. Osgood of Danvers, with whom she shared 52 years of marriage; two daughters, Leann Goujon & her husband Timothy of Salem, NH and Robin Schweizer & her fiancé Peter Schmitt of Peabody; two grandchildren, Cassandra Osgood of Danvers and Matthew Schweizer of Peabody, currently attending UNH; one great-grandson Joshua Osgood of Danvers; a sister Patricia “Patsy” Mendonca of Peabody; a brother, Ret. Lt. Col. Air Force Paul Stankiewicz and his wife Judith of Hawaii;, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death, besides her parents, by a brother Ralph “Rushy” Stankiewicz and brother-in-law Manuel Mendonca. Following cremation, relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather in honoring her life on Sunday November 8, 2015 from 2 – 6 PM at the Hawthorne Hotel in Salem, with a ceremony during that time period. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to either the Scleroderma Foundation, 300 Rosewood Dr. # 105, Danvers, MA 01923 or to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
