Obituary of George J. Antonio

George Antonio PEABODY – George Antonio, 84, beloved husband of the late Adeena S. (Anasoulis) Antonio, died peacefully on Friday evening November 6, 2015 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, while in the comforting presence of his family. Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late James and Despina (Carvounaris) Antonio. He was a life long resident of the city. He graduated from Peabody High School, then continued his studies at Hellenic College and Holy Cross Seminary. He enlisted in the United States Army, with service during peacetime to the beginning of the Vietnam War. Mr. Antonio was a Credit Manager with several companies, including J.J. Newberries at the North Shore Shopping Center in Peabody, J.R. Sousa & B.P. Oil of the North Shore, and was last employed by the Town of Danvers, retiring a few years ago. George was very faithfully devoted to his church community, St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody, involved with many activities and the St. Val’s Mens Club. Other community organizations in which he was a member include the Masons, the Shriners, and the Lions Club of Danvers. His greatest passion was his love and devotion to family and friends. He is survived by two daughters and three sons, Donna Antonio-Riggs of Manchester, NH, Ellen Thorne of South Hamilton, James Antonio of Framingham, George Antonio Jr. of Bridgton, ME, and Louie Antonio of Manchester, NH; four grandchildren, George Antonio II, Nathaniel Antonio, Nora Antonio, and Dean Antonio, and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Tuesday November 10, 2015 at 11 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Service at 12 Noon in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Peabody. A visitation will be held on Monday from 5 – 8 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Memorial donations may be made to the St. VAsilios Greek Orthodox Church, 7 Paleologos St., Peabody, MA 01960.
