Obituary of Guilherme C Pereira

Guilherme C. Pereira, 78, of Peabody, passed away Tuesday morning at the Kaplan Family Hospice House following a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Maria (Silva) Pereira. Guilherme was born in Pico, Azores, Portugal on January 5, 1937, son of the late Guilherme and Defina (Rosa) Pereira. He was raised and educated in Portugal until moving to the U.S. in 1976. Prior to his retirement, he served as a police officer in Angola, Africa, then once in the U.S. he worked as a machine operator at L. Fine Company in Peabody. While living in Peabody, he was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, and also a member of the Clube de Luis Camoes. Many of his interests were watching his favorite soccer team, S. L. Benfica, singing to his grandchildren, who brightened up his day, but most importantly, being surrounded by his loving and caring family. He is loved and missed by all who knew him. Besides his wife, he is survived by his sons and their wives, Diamantino & Megan Pereira of Peabody, Nelson & Gloria Pereira of Blacksone, MA; his loving grandchildren; Mason and Cassidy Pereira; his siblings, Joao & his wife Lucinda Pereira of Chicago, IL, Amelia Rosa Pereira of Pico, Azores, and Delfina & her husband Manuel Simas of Stoughton, MA, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Jose, Antonio, Manuel, Maria Delfina, and Rosa Delfina Pereira. A Visitation will be held on Friday, November 13, from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. His funeral will be held on Saturday, November 14, at 8:00 AM at the Funeral Home followed by a funeral mass in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 50 Walsh Ave., Peabody at 9:00 AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
