Obituary of Manuel J. Espinola

Manuel J. Espinola, 86 years, of Peabody, husband of the late Aida (Sousa) Espinola died Wednesday at the Pilgrim Nursing and Rehab Center in Peabody following a brief illness. Mr. Espinola was born Aug. 30, 1915 in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal son of the late Candido Espinola and Lucinda (Calisto) Calisto. He emigrated to the United States in 1953 and had been a resident of Peabody since then. Mr. Espinola was employed as a leather worker for many years at the former Korn Leather Co. and the former Sirois Leather Co. both of Peabody until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of Our Lady of Help in Peabody and enjoyed gardening as a hobby. He is survived by a son and his wife, Manuel D. and Cecilia Espinola of Peabody; a brother and his wife, Candido and Odette Calisto of Peabody; a sister Georgina Francisco of Azores, Portugal; a grandson and his wife Joseph and Christina Espinola of Salem; two great grandchildren Jamie and Chloe Espinola of Salem and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Joseph Quadros, Fautino Ramos and Sylvana Quadros. His funeral will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from the Conway facility at 12 Chestnut St. Peabody (978-531-0398) of the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home followed by his funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Thomas the Apostle Church Salem/Peabody line.
