Obituary of Maria Johanna Sanders

Maria Johanna “Miep” (Scale) Sanders, 75, of West Peabody, died suddenly on November 9, 2015. She was born in Rotterdam, Holland on September 26, 1940, the daughter of the late Georg and Helena (Vlamings) Scale and was educated and raised there before coming to the United States in 1965. She had been a sales associate, first with Jordan Marsh Company and later with Macy’s Department Store for 36 years prior to her illness at the start of this year. She also worked at T.J. Maxx Stores. Her most precious time was spent with her children, their spouses, and especially spending time with her grandchildren watching them grow and mature. Miep also enjoyed working in her garden, traveling back to her homeland in Holland and doing word puzzles. She became a proud citizen of the United States in 1980. Maria is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Eric G. and Elisa Sanders of Bradford, MA, her daughter and son-in-law, Monique H. and Glenn Trulson of Westford, MA, her cherished grandchildren, Kelsey B. Trulson of Marblehead, Tyler J. Trulson of Westford, and John B. and Chris D. Sanders of Bradford, a brother Frans G. Scale and his wife Willeke (van der Sluys) Scale of Holland and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Johann Frans Scale. A Visitation will be held on Monday, November 16, 2015 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. A Service will be held there on Tuesday at 11:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, West Peabody.
