Obituary of Robert H Carnes

Robert H Carnes, 88, of Peabody and formerly of Everett, died unexpectedly on Wednesday at his home. He was the beloved husband of Pauline E (Noyes) Carnes with whom he shared over 60 years of marriage. Born in Maspeth, Long Island, New York, he was the son of the late Frederick Harold and Barbara (Kearns) Carnes. He was raised and educated in Everett and has lived in Peabody for the past 55 years. Robert was a veteran of World War II and served with the United States Navy before being honorably discharged in April of 1946. Following is military service; Robert was employed for over 36 years at Raytheon in Andover and retired as Sr Mechanical Engineer. Robert was very active and founding member of St. Adelaide’s Church in Peabody. He served as Eucharistic Minister and Usher and was a member of the Couples Club as well. He enjoyed doing yard work, boating, and loved his New England Patriots. He enjoyed coaching his daughters in softball and basketball and was affectionately know as coach “Kamikaze” Carnes. His favorite activities though was spending time with his family and sharing in all of their endeavors. Robert is survived by his children, Richard Carnes of Charlotte, NC, Kenneth and his wife Cathy Carnes of Groveland Beverly Dunn of Peabody, Cathleen McDevitt of Middleton, Pamela and her husband Daniel Peck of Peabody, and Barry Carnes of Boxford, his two sisters, Ruth Tocci of Salem, NH and Belle Marie Cosgrove of Naples, FL, and is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. His funeral will be held on Monday at 9:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Adelaide’s Church, Lowell St.,, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 2:00 – 5:00 PM. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Lake St., Peabody. Expressions of sympathy can be made to the www.woundedwarriorproject.org
