Obituary of Arthur Venditti
Arthur Venditti, 73, of Peabody, a distinguished entrepreneur and consultant, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday November 22, 2015 at his residence. He was the husband of Helen J. (Robinson) Venditti with whom he shared 46 years of marriage. He was born in Boston , MA on May 2, 1942, the son of the late Philip A. and Sebastiana (Miano) Venditti and had resided in Reading before moving to Peabody.
He was a graduate of Mass College of Art with a degree in Industrial Design. He was first employed at Container Corporation, followed by GTE Sylvania, Endicott St., Danvers, where he met his wife. He later joined Parker Brothers Games in Salem, and later in Beverly, in the Research and Development Dept, where he spent 12 years inventing and developing toys and games. While there he was responsible for naming the Nerf Ball.
He went on to start his own company, Venditti R&D, inventing and licensing his own products. Soon after, he started Invention Incubator Network in Woburn with a friend, helping countless new inventors develop inventions and introduce their products to market. He had over a dozen patents of his own. In 1995, he joined Brookfield Sports in Peabody and spent 5 years designing juvenile inline skates, skateboards and safety equipment. While at Brookfield, he began traveling to Asia to oversee product development and production. Over the next 12 years Arthur made 75 trips to Asia. He enjoyed his trips there and made many friends.
In 1999, Arthur joined Peachtree Playthings in Georgia as director of R&D and later became VP of R&D and sourcing for Craft House Corp in Toledo, OH. He later served as a mentor in UMASS Boston’s Master’s Program, Inventive and Innovative Thinking. He had served on the Parish Council of St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody, was a long standing member of the Inventor’s Association of NE at MIT, Cambridge, and a past president of the Society of American Magicians. But what he cherished the most was being with his family, especially his two grandchildren.
He leaves his wife, Helen, a daughter, Renee Deal and son-in-law, Roy of Boxford, MA, his 2 grandchildren, Pearce and Lydia Deal, a sister, Marguerite Horvath and her husband Allen of Reading, MA and a niece and nephew.
A visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway,Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at 82 Lynn St., Peabody. A brief visitation will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM at the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at St. John the Baptist Church, 16 Church St., Peabody at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
