Obituary of Gertrude M. "Trudy" (Jeffrey) Kostos

Gertrude M. “Trudy” (Jeffrey) Kostos, 87, of Middleton and formerly of Peabody, wife of the late Albert H. Kostos, died at her home with her family at her side on Thursday, December 3, 2015. Trudy was born in Lynn on May 16, 1928 the daughter of the late George and Ruth (Sheehan) Jeffrey. She was raised in Lynn and graduated from St. Mary’s Girls High School in Lynn, and then pursued her education at the Burdett Business College. She moved to Peabody in 1950 and to Middleton 7 years ago. Trudy began her working career at Tony the Florist in Lynn where she met her beau Albert who was a letter carrier. After raising her family, she returned to work at Almy’s Department Store in Peabody and in 1993 she retired as a sales clerk at Boston Dress Company. She was a loving mother who devoted her life to creating a home for her family and who enjoyed spending precious time with her grandchildren whom she cherished. Trudy was a kind and good natured person who enjoyed the simple pleasures in life such as staying in touch with her childhood friends. She was also an avid Red Sox fan. Trudy is survived by two sons and their spouses, Paul and Patricia Kostos of Peabody, and Steven and Anne Kostos of Middleton with whom she resided; 5 grandchildren, Michael Kostos and his fiancée Antunella Gamarra, and David, Laura, Alex and Adam Kostos. She was predeceased by a daughter Julie Anne Kostos. She also leaves two very dear friends, Doris Champ of AZ and Marilyn Manning of Peabody. Trudy’s family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, December 6, 2015 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Her funeral will be held at 9 a.m. from the funeral home on Monday December 7th followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Ann Church, 140 Lynn St., Peabody. In lieu of flowers the family requested that memorial contributions be made in Trudy’s name to the North Shore Elders Services, 300 Rosewood Dr., #200, Danvers, MA 01923.
