Obituary of Paul J. Morrissey

Paul J. Morrissey, 87, of Peabody, died early Friday morning at Salem Hospital following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Irene M. (McKinnon) Morrissey. Born and raised in Lynn, he was the son of the late Paul J. and Margaret (McDonald) Morrissey. He was a graduate of Lynn English High School, class of 1934. He later attended Yale University in the Office Candidate School, and later received his Bachelor’ s Degree from Northeastern University in 1955. He was a veteran of Word War II who served with the United States Air Corps. Prior to his retirement, he was as an Engineer for over 42 years for General Electric at the River Works Plant in Lynn as well as in Everett, as a quality control manager. After his retirement, he worked for both Colonial Carriage and the Cahill-Brodeur Funeral as a driver from 1988 until 1994. He enjoyed gardening, reading, golfing, and bowling and was a avid Red Sox fan as well as a Northeastern University Football Fan. Besides his loving wife, he is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Joanne Morrissey of Amesbury, Dennis and Susan Morrissey of Nashua, New Hampshire, and Brian and Irene Morrissey of Peabody; a brother and sister-in-law, James and Eleanor Morrissey of Pinehurst, North Carolina; a sister-in-law, Ida Cruciani of Danvers; 6 grandchildren, Jay, Danny, Darlene, Ray, Eddy, and Kevin Morrissey, and several niece, nephews, and cousins. He was the brother of the late John Morrissey and Eleanor Kibbey. His funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 8:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Ann’ s Church, Peabody at 9:00 AM to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Monday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
