Obituary of Steven W. Sexton

Steven W. Sexton, 67, of West Peabody, passed away Tuesday evening at the Kaplan Family Hospice House with his Family and close friends by his side. He was a loving Husband, Father and Papa, an overly-generous man with a love for bad jokes and honest hearts. He was born in Medford, MA, son of the late John and Elizabeth (Taylor) Sexton, raised in Malden - graduating from Malden High School, class of 1966, and later from Northeastern University. Steve entered the US Army during the Vietnam War and served in Panama until 1971. He was employed with Verizon as a communications manager for over 35 years in the Boston and Framingham offices. Steve's favorite place to be was at his 2nd home in Harrison, ME on Long Lake. He loved his long trips to Hawaii with his family. Steve loved to make happy memories for everyone around him - this is where he shined. But his Grandchildren were the lights of his life, and any chance he had to be around them, that's where you would find him. He is survived by his wife, his soul mate, Pat; his son Kevin and his daughter-in-law Ruth Furlong of Beverly; his daughter Suzanne and his son-in-law Tom Moreland of Danvers; and his idolizing grandchildren Aidan and Finian Smith, Emma and Christopher Moreland - all of Danvers, and Eve and Liam Sexton of Beverly; his brother Mark Sexton of Wareham; his sister-in-law Cheryl Sexton of Framingham; his sisters- and brothers-in-law: Barbara and Gerald Kerrigan of Melrose, Helen Cronin of Melrose, and Sonny Gibbons of Swampscott; and his many, many nephews and nieces. He is embedded in the hearts of all who met him and is sorely missed. A Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 27, from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. His funeral will be held on Monday at 10:00 AM from the funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Adelaide’s Church, 708 Lowell St., Peabody at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park Peabody. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B – 102, Danvers, MA 01923 in his memory.
