Obituary of Henry J "Buddy" Burke

Henry “Buddy” Burke, 90, of Peabody, died early Thursday morning surrounded by his family at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Helen Yaskell Burke who passed away October 17th with whom he shared over 67 years of marriage. Born in Salem, MA, he was the son of the late Henry M. and Catherine A. (Coughlin) Burke. He was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School, class of 1942. Henry served in WWII from 1943 to 1947 as a Corporal Technician in the Medical Corps of the U.S. Army. Henry enjoyed model railroading, coin and stamp collecting. His favorite pastime was building HO model railroad displays and sharing that experience with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his two daughters and son-in-law, Beverly and Gary Barr and Susan Deisenroth of Dracut, his three grandchildren, Amy and her husband David Sullivan, James and his wife Abbey Barr and Katie Deisenroth, his two great grandchildren, Colin and Owen Sullivan, and is also survived by his two sisters-in-law, Doria Yaskell of Peabody and Jean Burke of Salem and by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, James Burke, Marie Thompson and Honor Henry. His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 – 8 PM and burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
