Obituary of James E. Geraghty Sr.

James E. Geraghty, Sr. of Peabody, MA. a disabled Vietnam veteran, died Saturday, December 26, 2015 at home with his loving family. He was 76. Born in 1939, he was the son of the late John and Anne Geraghty of Peabody, MA. Jim was a lifelong resident of Peabody. He attended Peabody High School before serving in the United States Navy. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a Captain and Deputy Sheriff at the Essex County Correctional System. An avid golfer, Jim was a long time member of the Beverly Golf and Tennis Club as well as a current member of the Olde Salem Greens Golf Club. He also loved to cook and was always involved in making Family meals during the holidays. He was passionate about his family and loved Spending time with his wife, sons, daughter in-laws, and grandchildren. He also Loved his best buddy, his dog Nick. He will definitely be missed and thought of By all who knew him. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Jean (McDougall) Geraghty, their three sons; James Jr. and his wife Susan of Westford, MA, Scott and his wife Maribeth of Londonderry, NH and Todd and his wife Nancy Geraghty of Bridgewater, MA. He is also survived by eight loving grandchildren; Anne, James III, Kelly, and Elizabeth of Westford, MA Graydon, Gabby, and Gavin of Londonderry, NH and Nicole of Bridgewater, MA. He is also survived by his brothers; Thomas and his wife Peggy of Bradenton, Florida, Donald and Barbara of Danvers, MA. and Bruce and Barbie of Peabody, MA and several nieces and nephews. Jim is predeceased by his sister Francis and brother Jack. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 AM from the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, 140 Lynn St., Peabody at 10:00 AM.
