Obituary of Angelo G. Collins
Angelo Angie G. Collins, 76, of Peabody died Monday at the New England Medical Center, Boston after a 5 year illness with lymphoma. He was the husband of Mary (Lazarakis) Collins with whom he shared 51 years of marriage.
He was born in Peabody on July 9, 1927, the son of the late George and Arete (Cremidas) Collins ,he was a graduate of Peabody High School in 1945 and a lifelong
Peabody resident.
He entered the U.S. Army in December of 1945 serving in both
WW 11 and later in the Korean War until his discharge in 1951.
He had been employed
at the U.S. Post Office in Peabody for 38 years until his retirement in 1993.
He had been a long time active member of the Republican Party of Massachusetts working with state and federal candidates for various offices and was termed a grass roots person working for the cause’ ’ by former Governor Cellucci and worked hard for
the Mitt Romney campaign. Locally, he was a member of the Republican Committee of
Peabody and worked for many city and county campaigns.
He had been a Board member of St. Vasilios Church and also belonged to the V.F.W. Post 1011 and the D.A.V., Chapter 100 of Peabody.
Growing up close to Peabody High, he was a long time follower of the Peabody High football and basketball teams serving as a water-boy
with the state football championship team of 1938.
Surviving him besides his wife are a son and daughter-in-law, George and Josephine Collins of Boxford , a daughter, Arete Pascucci of Middleton, 2 brothers and a sister-in-law, James G. Collins and Charles G. and Maria Collins all of Peabody; 2 sisters and a brother-in-law, Sandra Collins of Peabody, Helen and Stephen Markos of
Ipswich; 7 grandchildren, Angelina, Angelo, Stephanie and Stephen Collins of Boxford
and Christina, Stephanie and Kimberly Pascucci of Middleton and many nieces and
nephews. He was the brother of the late Patrick Collins and Portia Collins.
His Funeral will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody facility followed by Services in St. Vasilios Church, Peabody at 12 Noon. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Visiting hours on Thursday from 5:00 until
9:00 P.M. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Vasilios Altar Fund, 7 Paleologos St., Peabody, Ma. 01960 in his memory.
