Obituary of Rose VaJames

Rose VaJames, 95, of Peabody, passed away on December 30th at the Atria Merrimack Place in Newburyport following a brief illness. Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Christos and Maria (Rambus) VaJames. She was a lifelong resident of Peabody and a graduate of Peabody High School, class of 1938. Rose was employed by Sears and Roebuck Company for nearly fifty years. She was the first women on the east coast to sell major appliances. She was recognized for her outstanding salesmanship by Sears and received awards for her service, dedication and accomplishments. Rose was happiest when celebrating holidays and special occasions with her family. She enjoyed dancing, especially Greek Dancing, knitting, traveling and baking Greek delicacies for her family. Rose had many nieces and nephews who loved her very much. She is survived by her nieces, Heidi Papantonis, Pamela Hagopian, Kathy Boulay, Lisa Ciccetti and Carole VaJames, her nephews, Michael Karagozie, Silvino, Romildo, Joseph, and Ernesto DiNicola. She is also survived by her cousins Michael and James Rambus as well as several great and grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Charles VaJames, Catherine Karagozie, Eva DiNicola, and Michael VaJames. She was predeceased by niece Christina McEntee and her nephew Christopher VaJames. She is also survived by her dear friends, Flo and Ray Manning. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 5 Paleologos St, Peabody and will be followed by her Funeral Service at 12:00 PM at the church to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the St. Vasilios Endowment Fund 5-7 Paleologos St., Peabody, MA 01960.
