Obituary of Sophie Manolakis
Sophie Manolakis, 91, of Danvers and formerly of Peabody, died on Thursday December 31 with her family by her side at Beverly Hospital following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Theophanis Manolakis.
Born in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late George and Rose (Haritos) Ravanis. She was raised and educated in Cambridge, later lived in Peabody and has spent the last few years living in Danvers.
Sophie was a member of the Daughters of Penelope at St. Vasilios Church in Peabody and was a member of the DAV Auxiliary Gold Star Wives.
Sophie is survived by her son Charles Manolakis of Beverly, her daughter, Rosemary Spearin of Wells, ME , her sister, Helen Nedder of West Boylston, her two devoted grandchildren, Hunter and his wife Marleah Spearin of Berwick, ME and Christopher Spearin of Wells, ME. She was predeceased by her brothers William and Louis Ravanis.
Following cremation, a graveside Memorial Service will be held on Friday at 10:30 AM at Cedar Grove Cemetery, 100 R Cedar Grove Ave, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Friends and family will gather at 10:15 AM at the entrance of Cedar Grove Cemetery and will proceed to graveside. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 5-7 Paleologos St., Peabody, MA 01960.
