Obituary of Andrew E. "Gene" Alimonti

Andrew E. “Gene” Alimonti, 91 Andrew E. ‘Gene” Alimonti, 91, beloved husband of Dolores (Piccinni) Alimonti, died peacefully on Thursday January 14, 2016 at the EN Rogers VA Medical Center Hospital in Bedford, following an extended illness. Born in Boston, he grew up in the North End and in East Boston. He enlisted in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Alimonti was gifted with skills in trade work. He trained as a mechanic, and helped maintain a fleet of trucks. Later he owned his business in Auto Repair which he operated in Allston, which grew into an Auto Parts store with wholesale delivery service. Gene enjoyed many hobbies including golf, bocci, photography, gardening, and building models. He was a member of the American Legion, and also the Disabled American Veterans at Boston Naval Yard in Charlestown. He is survived by his wife Dolores (Piccinni) Alimonti of Peabody, with whom he shared 61 years of marriage; two sons, James Alimonti & his wife Deborah Alimonti and Christopher Alimonti both of Peabody; a daughter Lisa Pellegrini & her husband Paul Pellegrini of Peabody; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a sister Mary Cardinale of Peabody, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death, besides his parents, by his son, Andrew Alimonti Jr., and his brothers Anthony and Joseph Alimonti. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Tuesday January 19, 2016 at 9:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM in St. Adelaide’s Church, Peabody. A visitation will be held on Monday from 5 – 8 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial will be at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
